Denise Park: Denise Park has been an avid outdoor adventure seeker her whole life. Hiking, backpacking, climbing, camping, kayaking, running, biking, skating, and most other athletic activities took control of her life at a young age. Born and raised in Southern California Denise took advantage of the good weather and diverse geography claiming the world as her playground. College at the University of California, Santa Barbara initiated her career as a fitness professional offering her anatomy, kinesiology and nutrition training as well as an opportunity to begin as a backpacking, rock climbing and kayaking guide through U.C.S.B. Adventure Programs. Continuing her guiding and education after college Denise worked for Outward Bound Wilderness in the Sierra Nevada’s during the summer and the National Park Service at Joshua Tree National Park during the winter. In preparation for graduate school Denise began taking pre-requisites for a Master’s/PHD in physical therapy during the winter season. Denise chose to move to Chicago to pursue her Master’s but instead found herself advancing her education in other ways. After acquiring two nationally recognized personal training certifications from the International Sports Science Association (ISSA) and National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM) Denise began work as a personal trainer. Additionally, Denise sought out a personal training studio that specialized in physical therapy related services such as prehab, rehab, flexibility, balance, stability and functional training. Interning at the studio during the day and personal training at night Denise practiced a Gary Grey style of training incorporating flexibility, strength and cardiovascular fitness into every session. Working with movement as opposed to isolating muscle groups Denise creates fun, progressive and functional training sessions that are different every time. In addition to 1 on 1 training Denise specializes in small group (2-4 participants) sessions that resemble a circuit style of training. As Denise is always looking to advance her education you can look forward to always being presented with new challenges and more advanced workouts.
